Opens Dec. 12: Whitaker
Center for Science and
the Arts

The science-fiction epic “The Day The Earth Stood Still: The
IMAX Experience”
opens at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow in the Select Medical IMAX
Theater in Harrisburg.

The 20th Century Fox thriller is a contemporary reinvention
of Robert Wise’s 1951 sci-fi classic that chronicles the adventures of an
extraterrestrial that travels across the universe to warn of an impending
global crisis. The remake is written and directed by Scott Derrickson,
screenwriter and director of “The Exorcism of Emily Rose.” The film boasts a
star-studded cast that includes Keanu Reeves (Klaatu), Jennifer Connelly (Helen
Benson), Jaden Smith (Benson’s estranged stepson), John Cleese (Professor
Barnhardt) and Kathy Bates (Regina Jackson).

The film opens nationwide Dec. 12, and that’s also the start of its run at the Whitaker.
