President
Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development
James DeBord was appointed president of the Lancaster-based Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development in 2012. DeBord leads the pediatric rehabilitation facility, which provides physical, occupational and speech therapy and is one of only six accredited, independent pediatric rehab centers in the country.
So far, Schreiber has provided roughly $2.3 million worth of uncompensated services for financially disadvantaged families.
“The recent federal legislation targeting Medicaid cuts could have a catastrophic impact on reimbursement rates for the pediatric services that we provide at Schreiber in the coming years,” said DeBord. “Finding other funding sources to offset the current and future losses will continue to be a major focus of my work.”
In May, Schreiber unveiled a brand-new infant and toddler playground, and in April completed a newly built three-story addition and facility-wide renovation project, which upgraded areas like the occupational and speech-language therapy departments and added a new behavioral health department.
Under DeBord’s leadership, turnover remains low. “The leadership team that I have the privilege of working with at Schreiber has remained the same core group for many years now,” DeBord said. “Their experience and leadership has helped to grow clinical services, expand operations and increase the numbers of children we are able to serve in the past year, as well as for the past 13 years running.”
