Tröegs hosts World Down Syndrome Day event in Hershey celebrating inclusion and entrepreneurs
Tröegs Independent Brewing will host a World Down Syndrome Day event on March 21, featuring entrepreneurs with Down syndrome and other intellectual developmental disabilities.
The event is in partnership with 3.21 For Life, a project by Harrisburg-based nonprofit The Foundation for Enhancing Communities that’s dedicated to advocating for and educating about Down syndrome. This will be the fifth annual event for 3.21 For Life (the third hosted at Tröegs), and this year’s theme is “riding the wave of inclusion.”
The event will feature an area for entrepreneurs with Down syndrome and will be hosted by John Cronin, co-founder of John’s Crazy Socks, and his father Mark Cronin.
“Here at Tröegs, we’re always looking for ways to make our corner of the world a better place through our ‘Aletruism’ program,” Tröegs co-founder Chris Trogner said in a release. “Groups like 3.21 for Life are more than partners. They’re our friends, and collectively we can work together to make Central Pennsylvania inclusive and flourish.”
To celebrate the theme, Tröegs has developed a special canned cocktail called “Ride the Wave,” a peach and passionfruit drink with vodka.
Since 3.21 For Life took off in 2022, the project has raised and distributed nearly $250,000 to more than 30 organizations in the Hershey area and beyond. Grant recipients include day programs for persons with intellectual disability disorders, buddy clubs at local high schools and adaptive sports teams.
“Inclusion is happening everywhere in the world, and we want you to experience it in motion for yourselves right here in our community,” Jo Ann Pagano, co-founder of 3.21 For Life, said in a release.
The 3.21 For Life event will take place at Tröegs Independent Brewing at 200 Hersheypark Drive, Hershey on March 31 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with activities, entertainment, live music and opportunities for community engagement. Guests are encouraged to wear beachwear, tropical prints and related attire.
