The York Water Company, is partnering with HomeServe, an independent company, to offer its customers optional water and/or sewer service line protection coverage. According to a media release, the service lines eligible for coverage by HomeServe are the customer-side laterals that connect homes to the company’s water or sewer systems.
Many homeowners do not know that repairs to the service lines on their property are their responsibility, according to the media release. In the event of a service line emergency, the homeowner is responsible for sourcing a contractor and covering the associated repair costs.
We’re pleased to announce our relationship with HomeServe, a National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) preferred partner. As the national association representing private water and wastewater utilities, NAWC’s endorsement reinforced our confidence in selecting HomeServe, a provider we can trust—helping us offer our customers important protection and greater peace of mind,” said
JT Hand, President and CEO of The York Water Company, in the media release.
The program offered through HomeServe is completely voluntary for homeowners and is provided at no cost to The York Water Company. According to the media release, no utility funds are used to administer the program, and there is no change in utility service for homeowners who decline to enroll.
“Service plans from HomeServe not only help cover the cost of the repair; they also provide homeowners with reputable, local contractors who will do the best possible job, “ said Tom Rusin, HomeServe CEO, in the media release.
According to the media release, homeowners with a plan who have a service line issue can call the HomeServe 24-hour hotline to schedule a repair. HomeServe will then dispatch to the home a local contractor. The plans feature no service fees or deductibles on covered repairs, and the repair work is guaranteed for one year.
