 For 277 years, Rutter’s Holdings has developed a portfolio of family managed group of companies comprising convenience stores, a dairy and beverage company and a real estate company.

“The family farm started out of basic necessity in 1747. Since then, Rutter’s has started a fluid Dairy, an ice cream company, family sit down restaurants, a bakery, convenience stores, and others,” the company stated. “Rutter’s Dairy started in 1921 with George and Bud Rutter milking their cows and selling the milk by horse drawn carriage. Shortly after that, they started a milk processing plant and added more employees. By the 1940s, the war effort was tough, but Rutter’s persevered. In 1968, the first Rutter’s farm store opened. Rutter’s management continued to expand the dairy and convenience store operations throughout the 1970s.”

According to the company, Rutter’s currently employs 2928 staff members, operates 87 convenience stores and the Dairy serves five states. Three family members are involved with the business, including Scott Hartman as President of CHR Corp, Todd Rutter as President of Rutter’s Dairy and Chris Hartman as President of M&G Realty.

The company states its goal is to “integrate another generation into the company, while continuing to expand and grow the business.”

According to the company, since 2003 Rutter’s Companies have donated “more than $14.3 million to organizations dedicated to making a positive impact on children in the communities Rutter’s serves.
