Providence Place Senior Living
Providence Place Senior Living was founded in 1998 by former Pennsylvania Gov. George M. Leader. With seven locations situated across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania, the family-owned company provides independent living, assisted living and memory care for seniors. The company aims to provide services at a “reasonable price for the middle class.”
“George M. Leader was an entrepreneur with a focus on serving PA seniors,” the company stated. “Mr. Leader dedicated his life to this purpose. Providence Place Senior Living is structured to serve the middle market—in regions that are not well served for seniors.”
Providence Place employs approximately 500 staff members, with 10 family members remaining involved as shareholders and members of the Board of Directors. David Leader, son of the company’s founder, now leads as President and CEO.
“After a 20-year career in manufacturing and marketing with Fortune 500 firms, David returned to Pennsylvania to join the family business of senior living,” the company stated on its website. Leader has been serving as president and CEO since 2013.
“As we continue to evolve, we pride ourselves on creating a true community where residents, team members and families have a say in the way our communities operate and the activities and food provided,” the company stated. “The boomer generation is starting to enter the need for senior living options, so we see this market growing but are also aware of the growth of investors and competitors in the market as well.”
The company aims to contribute to the communities its located within by supporting local businesses, healthcare operations, the organization’s coworker foundation, and causes that bring awareness to critical health issues like dementia and Alzheimer’s.
