Lancaster Health Center and Welsh Mountain Health Centers completed their previously announced merger this month under the new name, Union Community Care.

The two Lancaster-based Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) first announced late last year that they were merging, a move that the FQHCs said will help them further their goal of providing accessible and affordable care throughout Lancaster and Lebanon.

The merger was officially finalized on March 1 and the new organization announced its new name on Friday.

Union Community Care operates 10 health centers in Lancaster and Lebanon and employs over 300 people.

“From the very start of the merger process, both organizations worked collaboratively to create a new name and identity, focusing on strength in unity,” said Dave Kreider, Union Community Care Board President. “When you bring together two organizations that find synergy in the same purpose, a new identity naturally falls into place.”

Along with the name change comes a new mission and vision statement, which Alisa Jones, Union Community Care president and CEO said blends together two organizations deeply rooted in their communities.

“The vibrancy, diversity, personal values, and colorful existence that lives within our communities, patients, and staff inspire us to meet every family, friend, and neighbor where they live, relate to their lives, and see them as the brave, complex, unique human beings that they are,” Jones said.

Jones is the former president and CEO of Lancaster Health Center. Welsh Mountain Health Centers’ CEO, Jackie Conception, has taken on the role of vice president of community initiatives.

The organization expects to update its signage, social media and websites to align with the new branding over the next few months.

Services, locations, fees and programs are expected to continue without any changes.
