Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4)
Barry Buckingham, executive director of the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, said he has been proud to lead PHC4 staff in developing an updated public website, phc4.org, and several new publications and resources. One of these resources is an interactive map – MAPPED 1.0 by PHC4 – that identifies all the hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in the commonwealth and their affiliations and ownership. And a new report focused on the impact of COVID-19 is set to be released in early 2024. These projects maintain the standards of excellence for which PHC4 has long been known.
“I believe that one of the key qualities contributing to my success is having the ability to be open to a broad view of potential challenges and seeing them as opportunities while considering all perspectives to find dynamic solutions,” Buckingham said. “I also think that recognizing the authentic motivations of others has been helpful in reaching consensus, finding common ground, and facilitating smooth negotiations to the benefit of all parties.”
