York-based Wifinium has appointed Karl Burns chief commercial officer.
The industry veteran brings decades of strategic partnership and business development expertise to Wifinium, a provider of critical, commercial-grade connectivity solutions. According to a release, Burns is leveraging his extensive business development and go-to-market strategy experience in the telecommunications field to advance Wifinium’s mission to deliver innovative, turn-key managed network solutions.
“I am beyond excited to join Wifinium and contribute to the innovative work this impressive team is doing in the connectivity space,” Burns said in a statement. “Wifinium’s OEM-agnostic flexibility and its ability to integrate seamlessly into an organization’s existing processes, rather than requiring a total infrastructure overhaul, makes us a uniquely agile partner for complex environments.”
Burns transitions to Wifinium following a successful tenure at CommScope, where he focused on building and launching new businesses within the managed connectivity space. Prior to joining Wifinium, Burns held several leadership roles, including Director of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development at Boingo Wireless, where he managed telecommunications infrastructure projects for “Big 3” carriers. He also served as IoT Solutions Leader at T-Mobile, where he secured the largest contract in the group’s history.
Burns has a track record as a consultant, having led business strategy for a technology group’s most successful product introduction and implementing processes for a large retailer that increased earnings by more than $3 million in its first year. His global perspective is shaped by leading high-impact engagements across the US, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, India, Mexico, Spain, and Great Britain.
Since joining Wifinium, Burns has helped secure a critical public sector WiFi project and is currently collaborating on a large-scale public venue deployment scheduled for 2026.
“Karl’s ability to translate complex insights and market dynamics into actionable business plans is exactly what Wifinium needs as we continue to expand customer relationships,” Wifinium CEO Kerem Bolukbasi said. “His history of driving significant revenue growth and managing global engagements will be a massive asset to our team and our partners alike.”
