Located in York, Transply, Inc. was founded by brother Ray and Dean Gross in 1972. The company’s mission is to “provide our customers with quality service at affordable prices while investing in innovation and our employees to build a better future.”
Since its founding, the company expanded into six locations across Pennsylvania, as well as offices in Maryland and Virginia. The company has become a privately-held general-line distributor, focused on providing “superior customer service along with quality parts,” as stated on the company’s website.
In 2004, one of the co-founders sons, Brian Gross, assumed the position of president, carrying on the family business. In the same year, Susan Crone, Ray Gross’ daughter, was named vice president of human resources. According to the company’s website, “Naming Brian and Susan to their respective positions ensures the company will remain in family hands allowing continuity not normally available in today’s corporate world.”
Leadership transitioned in 2022 when Monatto Smith stepped into the role of President, replacing Brian Gross after his retirement.
“Monatto is Dean Gross’ brother-in-law and has served in management roles with Transply for the last 45 years. He will bring the same values and vision as Brian and with our leadership team in place, will facilitate us for growth for the next generation,” the company stated on its website. “With the company having eight strategically located offices and many leading brands of products, Transply is positioned to be a leading distributor for years to come.”
