Setas Eternal Living makes biodegradable mycelium coffins that sequester carbon, reduce burial costs, and restore nature, the company said.

The company said it is building the future of regenerative deathcare—offering sustainable alternatives to traditional burial and cremation that honor both people and planet.

“I wanted to build something that gives back to the Earth,” CEO Max Justice said. “Inspired by mycology and a deep desire to heal our broken deathcare system, we launched Setas Eternal Living to create sustainable, meaningful alternatives to toxic burial and cremation.”

Their flagship product, MyCoffin, is grown from mycelium and hemp and is designed to biodegrade naturally while sequestering carbon in the process.

“We’ve sold our first coffins, earned national media attention, and are building strong partnerships with funeral homes and green cemeteries across the U.S.,” Justice said.

A challenge for the company has been educating people on regenerative burial.

“We’re pioneering a new category,” Justice said. “That means navigating regulations not built for innovations like ours, while scaling sustainable production and building awareness.”
