As a managing partner for the last eight years, Scott C. Penwell said he has been responsible for setting the strategic direction of the firm.

“That includes determining how big we want to become, what kind of law we want to practice and choosing the kind of lawyers who join us,” Penwell said. “In the next 10 years, I see us growing to between seven to ten lawyers, continuing to practice corporate, securities, merger and acquisition, franchise and insurance law and, because of our remote working model, hiring the best lawyers we can find regardless of location.”

Over the last year, Penwell Law continued to grow its practice.

“We did that not only with one on one contacts, but attended a number of insurance-related conferences and sponsored one of our own,” Penwell said. “We also continued to grow our Young Women in Law conference.”

Like many in the field, Penwell said he is concerned about the effect AI will have on the practice.

“Since a large portion of our practice is transactional in nature, interest rates, the availability of credit, valuations and buyers appetites have a great impact on our merger and acquisition practice, which means a strong economy bodes well for us,” he said.
