Parx Casino Shippensburg is preparing for the debut of live table games, announcing official Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) test days today and tomorrow.
A soft opening is scheduled for Friday, pending final PGCB approval. The property will officially celebrate the full launch during a Grand Opening Weekend beginning Feb. 6, featuring action-packed table play, promotions, giveaways, and special activations throughout the casino.
“This expansion not only adds more excitement for our guests, but it also strengthens our support for the local economy,” John Marshall, general manager of Parx Casino Shippensburg, said in a statement. “We’re creating new jobs, generating additional revenue for the commonwealth, and continuing to invest in the long-term success of Shippensburg and Cumberland County.”
According to a release, the launch marks a milestone for the property and an enhancement to the gaming experience in Cumberland Valley. The new casino floor layout will feature 12 live table games with 72 total seats, including Blackjack, Roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, and Three Card Poker, each staffed by professional dealers.
PGCB test days, will have casino leadership hosting community partners, local officials, and representatives from the gaming industry to preview the new live table games experience. Today, Shippensburg Mayor Shaun Rogers will place the casino’s first-ever honorary wager at a Blackjack table, a ceremonial moment for the property and the community as live table games officially debut.
Parx Casino Shippensburg has designated Branch Creek Place of Shippensburg as the charitable beneficiary of its live table games test days today and Wednesday. All table games revenue generated during the test period, from 12 p.m.-8 p.m., will directly support Branch Creek Place’s mission as a local senior center and Meals on Wheels provider serving the Shippensburg community.
Branch Creek Place is a subsidiary of Menno Haven, a senior living organization based in Chambersburg. Pending successful approval from the PGCB following the test days, Parx Shippensburg will proceed with its soft opening on Jan. 30.
Parx Casino Shippensburg is the second casino property in Pennsylvania owned and operated by Greenwood Racing Inc. Located on South Conestoga Drive off I-81, the 73,000-square-foot property features 500 slot machines, 12 live table games (pending PGCB approval), Jax Bar with video poker, Foodies grab-and-go counter service, and Liberty Bar & Grill—a family-friendly restaurant and sports bar featuring a menu and 18 HD TVs for premium sports viewing. The property is also home to The Side Pocket, an entertainment venue offering national comedians, local bands, and pool tables. betPARX sports betting kiosks are available throughout the casino.
