PA AFL-CIO endorses Harris for president, Casey for senator
The Executive Council of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO announced it is endorsing Kamala Harris for President of the United States and Bob Casey Jr. for United States Senator.
The PA AFL-CIO is one of some 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO. The council met last Thursday to vote on pro-labor, pro-working family endorsements in upcoming elections across Pennsylvania.
“Unions across the commonwealth are coming together to build a stronger, more inclusive economy for everyone—regardless of their political affiliation—and to continue to bring workers’ concerns to the forefront of the conversation,” Angela Ferritto, president of the PA AFL-CIO said in a statement.
“Over these last four years, unions have made significant gains—earning historic contracts for better pay and new benefits, securing record investments in good-paying, union jobs, and critically, building union density right here at home and across the country. Honestly, the amount of workers mobilizing to unionize and get their fair share of record corporate profits shows me that people are starting to realize when unions are strong, the middle class is strong,” added Ferritto.
Labor 2024 is the AFL-CIO effort to elect candidates who share pro-union, pro-worker values up and down the ballot in Pennsylvania and across the country.
“The candidates we are endorsing this year have worked with us to ensure workers’ voices are heard,” said Ferritto. “They’ve listened to our concerns, and they’ve offered solutions. We’re tired of politicians using us as a political prop and merely politicizing the issues we care about—we want solutions, and these candidates offer them.”
