“While my entire career has been focused on health care advocacy and policy, I’m new to Pennsylvania,” said Nicole Stallings, president and CEO of the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. Her first priority as CEO was a listening tour to hear from members.
She’s proud of the progress made in the past six months addressing their top challenges around the workforce crisis, behavioral health access and financial stability, as well as work to advance health equity and support the unique needs of rural and children’s hospitals.
“I embrace continuous improvement,” she said. Health care is complex and “requires you to be comfortable holding up the mirror and identifying ways to do the job better.” The time Stallings spent in state government aided her considerably. She said that having that public sector experience makes her a better partner. “I am always willing to come to the table and find ways to get things done. And at the end of the day, I am passionate about the work. I get to help hospitals help people. What’s not to love?”
