Vice President and Co-Founder
Scaringi Law
Melanie Walz Scaringi is the vice president and co-founder of Scaringi Law, a full-service law firm with over 20 employees in two offices serving clients throughout central Pennsylvania. “I am in charge of the firm’s accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, benefits and human resources functions, she said. In addition to my administrative duties, I maintain an active practice in estate planning, estate administration, trusts, surrogacy and elder law.”
Last year, Scaringi and her husband, who own and run Scaringi Law, had to make some of the most difficult and significant decisions they’ve ever ever had to make. “Due to the continued economic effects of the COVID pandemic and Gov. Wolf’s 2020 business closure order, we decided to close four of our six offices,” she said. “We are smaller and more efficient now. But this occurred as a result of a tremendous amount of work involved in downsizing and consolidating operations in our Harrisburg office.”
What gives Scaringi great satisfaction, she said, is “helping clients figure out and overcome complex legal and financial challenges. For example, the cost of nursing home care far surpasses the financial resources of most middle-income families. However, through adept planning, I am often able to able to preserve the modest resources of these clients for the surviving spouse and adult children and grandchildren while ensuring they can pay for quality nursing home care.”
