“We’ll be back. We love the community. We really want to remain in the coffee business, have a place downtown,” said Jen Schreiber, who manages the facility with Vanessa DeLisio.

The two are interested in buying the business but also might start fresh in a new location, Schreiber said. The shop at 284 W. Market St. also includes a coffee-roasting operation.

It’s unclear why the shop is closing. Sparky & Clark’s owner Mike Butler said a smaller location at York’s Martin Library will remain open, but said he would not comment further until this evening because he was busy with customers.

Closing the main coffee shop’s doors today will be difficult, DeLisio said.

“It’s just kind of become our home and our life and we have relationships with all of our customers and we’ve really grown attached to the community,” she said.

The Market Street shop opened about 10 years ago. It spawned several other Sparky & Clark’s locations in York and Harrisburg, most of which ended up closing.
