Shapiro Administration announces new workforce investment of over $4M

An investment of over $4 million in to strengthen  development projects has been made by the . 

announced the investment on Monday. 

Along with strengthening the state’s workforce, the investment is designed to boost industry partnerships across by encouraging businesses to collaborate across sectors to recruit, train and retain workers in high-demand fields like IT, , , and . 

“This $4 million investment in Industry Partnership grants is a pivotal step in fostering collaboration across Pennsylvania’s key sectors,” Walker said in a statement. “Under Governor Shapiro’s leadership, we are committed to strengthening industry connections, enhancing training opportunities, and driving economic growth.” 

According to a release, available funding will be awarded in increments of up to $400,000 to support industry partnerships across Pennsylvania to improve economic growth and prepare workers with training for their current position and future advancement. 

Projects funded through Industry Partnership grants are aimed at increasing worker recruitment and retention; increasing the number of workers attaining an industry-recognized credential; increasing worker wages and compensation; creating jobs; filling vacant jobs; and helping employers retain newly hired employees. 

Local workforce development boards, non-profit and non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, educational and post-secondary educational organizations, labor organizations, associations, and economic development entities are all eligible applicants. 

“By empowering local organizations and businesses to partner in addressing workforce needs, we are paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for all Pennsylvanians,” said Walker.
