Robert J. Murphy’s role as CEO and Chair of the Executive Committee over the past 15 years has been defined by strategic leadership, commitment to excellence, and dedication to the growth of Boyer & Ritter LLC, he said.
“My role over the past two years has been to complete a transition of leadership within the firm as I retire and step down as CEO and Chair of the Executive committee,” Murphy said. “I am very confident our new leadership will drive our firm to even greater heights in the future.”
Murphy said the most critical issue facing the public accounting industry is a severe shortage of accounting graduates.
“70% of all CPAs retire in the next 10 years. Public accounting firms are utilizing various tools to be more efficient with the shortage of staff including artificial intelligence and offshore outsourcing firms to assist in audit and tax preparation services,” Murphy said. “The AICPA has a plan in place to address the issue of attracting more students to the accounting profession.”
