The Red Land Senior Center is opening its newly renovated permanent home, resuming meals and programs for area seniors.
Operations at the new building are scheduled to start Aug. 24. The home is located at 501 Market Street in Lewisberry.
“There really are no words to describe how excited we are to finally say, ‘We’re home!’” Executive Director Carman Banzaca said in a statement. “This has been a long journey, and there have definitely been challenges along the way, but our staff, Board, volunteers, members, donors, businesses, and this community never stopped believing in what Red Land Senior Center means to older adults. We are so incredibly grateful. Now, the doors are open, and we can’t wait to see our seniors back where they belong.”
A nonprofit community organization, the Red Land Senior Center has been a dining and meeting place for older adults for over 52 years. Now, the center has a permanent home. Meals, programs, activities, and services will resume at the new location. According to a release, the new facility includes improvements designed to create a safe, accessible, comfortable, and welcoming environment for the older adults Red Land Senior Center serves.
Community partners, local businesses, volunteers, donors, grant organizations, contractors, elected officials, staff, board members, and countless supporters played a role in helping Red Land Senior Center reach this moment.
During the renovation and transition, Red Land Senior Center continued serving area seniors from its temporary home at Valley Grange #1360. The Red Land Senior Center invites the public to stop in and meet the staff, have lunch, join an activity, bring a friend, or volunteer.
While daily operations will begin in the renovated facility, the center will announce plans for an official grand opening. Additional details, including the date, time, and special guests, will be released once finalized.
The community will also have an opportunity to celebrate the completion of the renovation during the Lewisberry Fall Fest, scheduled for Oct. 10, from 11 am-4 pm on the grounds of the Red Land Senior Center and the Borough of Lewisberry. The family-friendly event will feature a Beatles Music Tribute by the band Penny Layne, demonstrations, local vendors, food, community exhibits, a silent auction, children’s activities, and other attractions while celebrating the Senior Center’s new permanent home.
Proceeds from the festival will support the Red Land Senior Center’s mission of providing meals, programs, and essential services to area seniors.
