Central Pa. franchisee recognized for senior care

Senior Helpers of Central PA announced that franchise owner Scott Gerson has been named 2025 Franchisee of the Year, the highest honor awarded at the organization’s Annual Conference held in Boston. 

Founded in 2002, Senior Helpers is a provider of in-home senior care. Gerson is among more than 265 Senior Helpers franchise owners worldwide.

“I am humbled to receive this award, but it truly belongs to our caregivers and staff who make a difference every single day,” said Gerson. “Central Pennsylvania is my home, and it’s a privilege to serve our seniors, support local families, and create jobs that strengthen our community.”

In addition to this top honor, Gerson also received multiple growth awards across his five territories – Camp Hill, Carlisle, Hershey, York, and Mifflinburg – highlighting business expansion and community reach.  

A former corporate executive at Harsco, Gerson purchased his Senior Helpers territory in 2022 and has expanded and enhanced care services across Central Pennsylvania. Since taking ownership in 2022, Gerson has led the Senior Helpers team from 150 caregivers serving 165 seniors to more than 450 caregivers supporting over 500 seniors. This growth has led to hundreds of new jobs for local families, higher wages for caregivers, and more seniors receiving the support they need to stay safe and comfortable in their own homes. 

According to a release, Senior Helpers provides non-medical in-home care to allow seniors to maintain independence and quality of life while aging in place, with services ranging from companionship and help with everyday tasks – including bathing, dressing, and light housekeeping – to specialized programs designed for those affected by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Gerson’s team partners with local hospitals, rehab facilities, and senior living communities (including independent living, personal care, and memory care units) to supplement care at every stage of aging. 

Gerson’s passion for Senior Helpers stems from a personal experience in his own family, per the release. After seeing how quickly his grandfather’s health declined in a nursing home, he recognized the need for seniors to have access to quality care at home. That experience has led to his commitment to ensure local seniors can age with dignity. 

Gerson has plans for future expansion, he remains focused on growing in ways that will make homecare more accessible to families throughout Central Pennsylvania, while also creating additional local jobs.
