Nurse anesthetists’ group adds a director of government relations
The vice president of the Harrisburg-based Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists (PANA) will step down to become the association’s first director of government relations.
On Feb. 1, Jessica Poole, vice president of the association and the head of its State Governance Relations Committee, will become PANA’s liaison with state lawmakers. The PANA represents more than 3,700 certified registered nurse anesthetists and students across the state. Nurse anesthetists are advanced-practice nurses who can administer anesthesia for medical procedures.
Poole will be the primary point of contact for lawmakers and other health care trade groups on behalf of the association’s board and its members, PANA said in a press release.
“This is a tremendous honor,” said Poole. “Our association leadership should be commended for taking this new direction. Creating this position shows just how serious PANA is about enhancing the practice of anesthesia in Pennsylvania, and how committed we are to providing safe, cost-effective care for every Pennsylvanian.”
Along with working with lawmakers in Harrisburg and Washington, Poole will also attend PANA meetings, events and forums across the state with association members and lawmakers.
“Jess has already proven her credentials over nearly two years while running PANA’s State Governance Relations Committee,” said Angelarosa DiDonato, PANA’s president. “She’ll be able to hit the ground running. And that’s exactly what we need her to do so we can quickly advance the policies that are so important to CRNAs and the people we serve every day.”
