Mid Penn Bank is a full-service community bank with 47 locations throughout PA and NJ, $5B in assets, and a full range of financial services to meet the needs of the communities it serves. Based in Millersburg, it employs 685 people.

Mid Penn Bank was originally founded as Millersburg Trust Company in 1868 with a mission to serve the financial needs of its neighbors in Central Pennsylvania. Rooted in a deep commitment to community banking, the bank aimed to provide trusted, accessible financial services to local individuals, families, and businesses. Rory Ritrievi, the bank’s president and CEO, said “More than 150 years later, that founding mission continues to guide us as we grow, evolve, and stay true to our community-first roots.”

Over the years, the bank has marked several key milestones, including six bank acquisitions and an upcoming seventh with William Penn Bank closing in April. It expanded into insurance with two firm acquisitions and launched a trust and wealth management division in 2016. Ritrievi said becoming a publicly traded company and expanding the bank’s footprint have helped it grow and better serve more communities.

“Our core values of community, trust, and personalized service shape every aspect of our operation from the ground up. We build real relationships, tailor solutions to individual needs, and reinvest in the neighborhoods across our footprint. This vision keeps us grounded, people-centered, and focused on creating lasting impact. It’s not just banking to us; it’s a long-term commitment to the success and well-being of those we serve,” he said.

Mid Penn has adapted to industry changes and economic challenges by staying proactive, adjusting service offerings, refining pricing strategies, expanding into new markets, and aligning its strategic goals with evolving trends. Through investments in technology, cybersecurity, and employee training, it’s remained competitive while keeping customer needs at the forefront.

Mid Penn’s culture is defined by a strong commitment to continued learning, development, and community outreach. The bank invests in employees through leadership training, career growth opportunities, and hands-on development, while fostering a sense of purpose through meaningful community engagement. “This focus on people, both inside the organization and out, has played a major role in our longevity and continues to shape the way grow, serve, and operate,” Ritrievi said.

Community engagement is central to Mid Penn’s mission. “We support the people and businesses across our footprint through volunteerism, partnerships and charitable giving. By supporting local causes and regional efforts, we help strengthen neighborhoods, expand opportunity, and contribute to the economic growth of the communities we proudly serve,” he said.

Mid Penn stays competitive by understanding its markets, listening to customers, and staying ahead of industry trends. “Each area we serve has unique needs, and we tailor our approach to fit those needs. Our team pays close attention to what competitors offer so we can deliver stronger, more valuable solutions. We also focus on growing brand awareness with dedicated marketing efforts and engaging content like videos and podcasts that help keep our message clear and consistent,” Ritrievi said.
