Like Rocky, Michael R. Wilson thinks fast to capture new opportunities. With roles in the field of education and young professionals groups, he has now also become a leader in the local wine industry.
Throughout his career in education, Wilson has used a student-centered and experiential learning philosophy for students from kindergarten through post-secondary institutions. As a special assistant to the secretary of the Department of Education, he focuses on charter and cyber charter schools across the state.
Noticing a recent opportunity for the local wine industry, Wilson helped create the Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country. The goal was to be different from a standard wine trail by including tourism, hospitality and transportation partners in year-round events. It now consists of 12 local wineries and many tourism-related partners.
Wilson is the founder and president of Carlisle Young Professionals. He is also a graduate of both Leadership Cumberland and Leadership Harrisburg Area.
