Lancaster-based RETTEW is involved in a project in Georgia.
RETTEW and Cincinnati’s Synthica Energy, LLC, a renewable natural gas development company, broke ground on their new plant in Rome, Georgia. The plant is expected to be completed in 2026, according to a release.
“RETTEW is proud to be at the forefront of renewable energy innovation,” RETTEW President and CEO Clayton Bubeck said in a statement. “Our collaboration with Synthica Energy on this groundbreaking project demonstrates our commitment to providing sustainable engineering solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.”
Located in Floyd County, Ga., the anaerobic digestion facility is the first of its kind in the Greater Atlanta area, per the release. It is set to divert nearly 250,000 tons of organic waste from local landfills each year, creating renewable natural gas (RNG) while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
RETTEW’s engineering experience was instrumental in the design and permitting of this state-of-the-art facility. As the project’s Engineer of Record, RETTEW provided engineering services, including civil, architectural, structural, electrical, process, mechanical, and instrumentation design.
RETTEW worked with Synthica Energy and project partners Clark Construction, Southern Engineering & Surveying, and Webster Environmental Associates. RETTEW also worked with Synthica on their first RNG facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, expected to be operational in early 2025, and recently broke ground on a second site in San Antonio, Texas.
Founded in 1969, RETTEW provides civil, transportation, environmental, and subsurface utility engineering; geophysics; land planning; surveying; safety consulting; and design-build construction services across a range of markets. RETTEW is employee-owned with nearly 300 employees and Pennsylvania offices in Allentown, Berwyn, Lancaster, Mechanicsburg, Pittsburgh, State College, and Williamsport.
