York-based Holla Spirits has opened its first-ever retail bottle shop within McLanahan’s Downtown Market at 119 South Allen Street in State College.
The new Holla Spirits store in McLanahan’s offers Holla’s full line-up of spirits including its original vodka, portfolio of flavored vodka, gin, rum, agave spirit and bourbon, the millennial-owned company said.
“Downtown State College has changed in dramatic and fantastic ways since our years at Penn State,” said Holla Spirits Founder Patrick Shorb, referencing the days when he and his Holla business partner Matt Glaser were Penn State students.
“With luxury condos and a vibrant community of professionals, it is a bustling center of activity. And McLanahan’s Downtown Market is right in the center of it all,” Shorb said. “We are tremendously excited to bring Holla’s first-class spirits to everyone downtown who wants top-shelf quality at a convenient grocery store that offers beer, wine, tailgate essentials, and now spirits – all under one roof.”
Holla’s new bottle shop in McLanahan’s is the Pennsylvania spirit company’s first-ever satellite retail location, Shorb said. As far as the Holla knows, its new shop also is the first retail spirits location ever in the heart of Downtown State College.
“Just like Holla, McLanahan’s is known for keeping an open ear to the needs and wants of its community,” Shorb said. “So, the fact that they have welcomed Holla to pop up a store within their store says a lot. This new venture is even sweeter given that Holla was inspired in State College.”
Additional Holla Spirits bottle shops in Pennsylvania are being planned, including a second location in State College, at Wandering Spirits in Ligonier, Westmoreland County, and at a winery in Jermyn, Lackawanna County. Pennsylvania distilleries are permitted to have up to five satellite Board Approved Locations statewide, Shorb said.
