Healthgrades ranks two Penn State Health hospitals among America’s best

Healthgrades has ranked two Penn State among the best in the U.S.

in and in have been recognized among the top-performing hospitals. The two health centers earned places on ‘ America’s Best Hospitals list for 2026.

“These recognitions reflect the extraordinary dedication of our physicians, nurses and care teams who deliver high-quality, compassionate care every day,” Dr. Michael Kupferman, CEO of , said in a statement. “Being ranked among the best in the nation, while remaining deeply rooted in the communities we serve, reinforces our commitment to providing accessible, affordable and comprehensive care close to home.”

Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for the third year in a row, placing it among the top 1% in the nation for overall clinical excellence year over year.

Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center was recognized as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals, for the second year in a row, placing it in the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical excellence.

Penn State Health is a multi-hospital health system serving patients and communities across 15 counties in Central . Along with hospital performance, Penn State Health also ranked in several specialty award categories recognizing superior patient outcomes among key service lines.

According to a release, Healthgrades determined the top 250 U.S. hospitals by evaluating clinical performance for approximately 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions. Healthgrades’ analysis found that outcomes vary widely between the nation’s highest- and lowest-performing facilities. If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, an average of 211,370 lives could have been saved during the 2022-24 study period, per the announcement.
