From a one-car garage in Mount Joy to approximately 450,000 square feet of fabrication and production space with a 140-ton lifting capacity, Greiner Industries Inc. has grown into one of the largest job-shop structural steel fabricators in central Pennsylvania since Frank Greiner founded the welding and fabricating business in April 1976. The company employs more than 250 people.

Greiner’s early growth came quickly. Within two years he had constructed a 30,000-square-foot shop near Elizabethtown offering welding, fabrication, millwrighting and blasting and painting operations. The company incorporated as Greiner Industries Inc. in August 1979. By 1986 it had acquired more than 45 acres between Mount Joy and Elizabethtown, building the campus that has since expanded to its current scale.

Greiner has served as president for 48 years, overseeing day-to-day operations with what prior profiles have described as a “we can do that” mindset.

“We are a one-of-a-kind operation,” Greiner said, “and developing a team that gets excited about our unique products is a constant challenge.” To meet that challenge, the company has partnered with technical schools and the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board.
