Downtown Inc announced the 2026–2027 Welcoming Communities Grant Program.
Returning for the seventh year, the application period is now open for the program. Downtown Inc is accepting Letters of Interest for the initiative that is designed to support community-led events that foster belonging, cultural connection, and accessibility in York City.
“York City strives to be a place where everyone feels they belong,” Director of Downtown Inc. Sarah O’Brien said in a statement. “Through the Welcoming Communities Grant, we’re proud to partner with local organizers to create events that celebrate York’s culture, strengthen community ties, and bring new energy into our shared public spaces.”
Letters of interest will be accepted until Feb. 25. An invitation to submit a full application will be issued by March 4. Full applications are due by March 25. The panel review period is March 30 – April 9. Grant awards will be announced immediately following review.

According to a release, the goal of the grant program is to identify and provide financial support to sustainable community events that contribute to creating a welcoming and connected community for all in York City through diversity, accessibility, and cultural representation. Grant amounts up to $2,000 will be considered, and the average grant amount is $1,500 or less.
The Welcoming Communities Grant has invested $93,000 into York City, supporting 64 events that bring people together, celebrate diversity, and strengthen our community, per the release.
