Lancaster-based Advanced Cooling Technologies Inc. announced Tuesday its collaboration with Boeing to update a sophisticated weapons system for the U.S military and international partners.

Boeing contracted the company to manufacture a thermal solution for onboard guidance technology used on the Harpoon and SLAM-ER cruise missile systems.

Advanced Cooling’s thermal management hardware is essential to maintain safe temperatures of the missile guidance systems.

The contract represents a multi-year production phase after major milestones were reached on the engineering development phase.

“ACT is excited for the opportunity to innovate as a key partner alongside Boeing in this unique thermal endeavor for their sophisticated cruise missile programs,” Seth Ryberg, sales engineer, said in a release.

The company’s product development team has scheduled the first deliveries for next year.

Greg Hoeschele, lead engineer of product development, added: “We’ve spent the past year working closely with the team at Boeing, prototyping and getting this innovative and highly reliable thermal solution where it needs to be for mass production efforts. I’m proud to say we’re there!” In September 2021, Advanced Cooling announced it was awarded a $3.7 million contract by NASA to finalize the design and fabricate the flight thermal control system for the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover, or VIPER. Also last year, it was awarded a contract from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory for engineering development and flight hardware manufacturing for parts for an instrument on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
