Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, together with PNC Bank, today announced the grand opening of the new 7,000-square-foot PNC Innovation Zone at Whitaker Center in Harrisburg.

The program is the brainchild of state representative and former Harrisburg City Councilwoman, Patty Kim. Kim said she remembers being a young mother looking for child care and realizing it would cost most of her yearly salary. For economically disadvantaged parents in the Harrisburg school district trying to navigate a tempestuous school year, it's a huge burden.

The PNC Foundation awarded a $75,000 grant to Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts as part of the financial institution’s multi-million, multi-year “Grow Up Great” initiative.
