Al Perry, a second-generation Realtor has been sworn in as the 100th president of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. 

Most counties in central Pennsylvania reported a double-digit drop in home sales in 2022 from the previous year and a double-digit increase in median price.

Across the country, existing-home sales in June fell for the fifth consecutive month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.12 million, the National Association of Realtors reported Wednesday.

The situation is especially tough for first-time purchasers, who often can’t compete with experienced buyers able to spend more on a house or pay in cash. 

Harrisburg-area home sales fell slightly in January from the year before, but that’s not because demand is waning. 

Though Lancaster County home sales fell very slightly in November from the previous year, their pace is still comfortably ahead of 2020.

Housing inventory continued to trend down in November according to the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. 

September settlements totaled 783 in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties, 10 fewer than a year ago. Last month’s figure is also 10.3% less than the 877 houses sold in August 2021.  By Paula Wolf, Contributing Writer 

Despite the shortage of inventory in the three-county region covered by the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors, the number of new listings in the area is on the rise, according to Adrian Smith, president of the association.
