Small businesses join Mechanicsburg Sunday Market launch
Small businesses will be part of a new weekly tradition this summer, the Mechanicsburg Sunday Market.
The grand opening is Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library at 16 N. Walnut Street in Mechanicsburg. Admission is free.
The market was created through a partnership between Mosaic Events & Marketing, the Mayor of Mechanicsburg, and the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library. According to a release, it is established to create a vibrant community gathering place while supporting local farmers, growers, bakers, specialty food producers, artisans, and small businesses.
“The Mechanicsburg Sunday Market is about so much more than shopping,” Abeer Allen, co-owner of Mosaic Events & Marketing, said in a statement. “It’s about bringing people together, supporting our local farmers and small businesses, giving back to our library, and creating a place where neighbors can connect every Sunday. We’re excited to launch a market that not only strengthens our local economy but also gives back to the community. We hope it becomes a tradition that families look forward to for years to come.”
Held every Sunday through Sept. 6, the market will feature a rotating selection of local vendors offering fresh seasonal produce, baked goods, flowers, honey, jams, specialty foods, handmade products, and artisan crafts, per the release.
Twenty percent of all vendor fees are donated directly to the Joseph T. Simpson Public Library, helping support library programs and services that benefit residents throughout the year. In addition, organizers are partnering with participating vendors to donate eligible unsold food to local churches and community organizations, helping reduce food waste while providing fresh food to those in need.
The Mechanicsburg Sunday Market is currently seeking a limited number of additional farmers, growers, specialty food producers, florists, and other farm market vendors for its inaugural season.
