Shapiro secures $2.1M investment to expand manufacturing in York

Gov. Josh Shapiro announced that his administration has secured a $2.1 million investment from Gerard Daniel Worldwide to expand its manufacturing operations in York County.

The Shapiro administration is investing $200,000 in the project, which will create 35 new jobs over the next five years and retain 107 existing, full-time positions.

Gerard Daniel is North America‘s largest manufacturer and distributor of porous media to the filtration, separation, and barrier markets, according to a release.  The company will expand its existing manufacturing capacity by making required building infrastructure upgrades, including installing a new electrical transformer, and adding new equipment to its manufacturing facility located at 150 Factory Street in Hanover.

“Manufacturing is a core part of our economic development strategy, and today’s announcement shows that our commonwealth can compete with any state in the nation — and win more business in the manufacturing sector,” Shapiro said in a statement. “My administration will continue to make strategic investments that create good-paying jobs, strengthen our manufacturing base, and allow us to build an economy that works for every Pennsylvanian.”

Manufacturing is one of the key industries outlined in the governor’s Economic Development Strategy  that will help the commonwealth create opportunities for working Pennsylvanians.

“Gerard Daniel Worldwide has been part of Pennsylvania‘s manufacturing legacy for more than 50 years, and we’re proud to support its continued growth in York County,” said Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary (DCED) Rick Siger. “Investments like this strengthen our manufacturing base, create new opportunities for Pennsylvanians, and reinforce the fact that Pennsylvania is competing — and winning — for jobs and investment in our communities.”

Coordinated by the governor’s BusinessPA team, Gerard Daniel received a funding proposal from the DCED for a $200,000 Pennsylvania First grant.

Gerard Daniel serves various everyday industries, including the aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, and agriculture industries.
