Photography studio opens new location in former York industrial space
An established York-based photography and design firm will officially open a new studio space next week in the city.
Orendorff Studios, which specializes in wedding, sports team and portrait photography, is expanding into a 2,862-square-foot studio space at 402 Wheatfield St., York. The nearly 16,000-square foot property owned by 948 LLC features industrial spaces with Orendorff converting part of it into a studio.
Nate Resh, Ted Turnbull and Jason Turnbull of ROCK Commercial Real Estate of York brokered the transaction.
“Transformations like this are not only becoming popular, but necessary,” said Resh. “The ever-rising costs to construct new buildings has made creative reimagining of existing atypical spaces more economical. Transforming an industrial space gave them the functionality needed for large photo shoots.”
Orendorff Studios is known locally for hosting an annual “BARk in the Studio” dog portrait mini-session event in the fall, collecting nearly a ton of dog food for the West York BARk animal rescue group for its annual needy pet food campaign.
Jen Orendorff, owner of the studio, said the new space will enable her and her husband, Tim, to expand their business, which had outgrown its original location in West York.
“After touring several properties, we saw the potential in 402 Wheatfield and fell in love with it,” Orendorff said. “The new space has more than twice the square footage of our previous location, and we especially benefit from the high ceilings and open space that make it easier for in-studio photography.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 23.
