The Pennsylvania Control Board (PGCB) reported recently a rise of more than 11% in January.

The combined total revenue generated from all forms of Pennsylvania gaming along with during was $590,644,755 or 11.64% above revenue generated in January 2025. The resulting this January was $249,969,629.

Types of gaming regulated by the agency are slot machines and , , , fantasy contests, and video gaming terminals (“VGTs”).

The January 2026 revenue from the play of retail slot machines was $189,098,891, a 0.67% increase in revenue over the $187,834,351 generated in January 2025. The number of slot machines in operation in January 2026 was 24,161, compared to 24,388 at the casinos one year ago. Tax revenue from the play of slot machines in January 2026 was $95,571,123.

Retail revenue for January 2026 was $75,781,693, an increase of 2.80% from January 2025 when revenue was $73,720,836. Total tax revenue from table games play during January 2026 was $12,836,616.

During January 2026, casino games offered online generated a record amount of monthly gross revenue totaling $249,301,331. Compared to revenue of $210,170,977 in January 2025, this represents an increase of 18.62%. Tax revenue generated from during January 2026 was $113,918,351.

Total sports wagering handle for January 2026 was $782,423,791, which was 10.39% below the January 2025 handle of $873,149,858. The taxable revenue figure for January 2026 was $71,393,613, or38.63% higher than January 2025, when taxable revenue was $51,500,459. Tax revenue generated from sports wagering during January 2026 was $25,701,701.

Total adjusted revenue for January 2026 for VGTs was $3,193,118, 0.56% higher than January 2025 when revenue was $3,175,197. By the end of January 2026, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 76 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 74 establishments at this time last year.

The January 2025 total adjusted revenue for VGTs was $3,193,118 or0.56% higher than January 2025 when revenue was $3,175,197. By the end of January 2026, all VGT Operators offered the maximum permitted five machines at each of the 76 qualified truck stop establishments, compared to five machines at each of the 74 establishments at this time last year.

Fantasy Contests revenue was $1,876,110 in January 2026, a decrease of -29.92% over January 2025, when revenue was $2,677,232.  Tax revenue collected from Fantasy Contests in January 2026 was $281,416.

The PGCB oversees all aspects of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino games, retail and online sports wagering, and VGTs at qualified truck stops, along with the regulation of online fantasy sports contests.

The land-based casino industry in Pennsylvania consists of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five stand-alone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos and four mini-casinos (Category 4). Casinos and the other types of Board-regulated gaming returned $2.98 billion in tax revenue and fees to Pennsylvanians in 2026.
