Help for Pennsylvania’s small brewers may soon be on the way. 

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Tuesday passed legislation introduced by state Rep. , D-Lehigh, that would upgrade the PA Malt Beverage Tax Credit Program.  

The legislation would extend the carryforward period of the malt beverage tax credit up to five years and permit  to sell their credits to other . 

 The bill now moves to the state Senate for consideration. 

 Tiburcio said she introduced to assist smaller breweries.

Modernizing the tax credit program ensures that we remain the second-ranked state in the craft beer industry. I am so proud to support our local breweries, which generate over $5 billion for the each year and are essential to our communities.” 

The malt beverage tax credit program allows breweries that invest in their facilities or equipment to claim a tax credit equal to the amount of capital expenditures they incur, up to a maximum of $200,000. Currently, these tax credits can be carried forward for just three years. Credits may not be sold to other Pennsylvania breweries.
