Messiah Lifeways plans to transfer Mount Joy Country Homes to Pleasant View Communities.
Transfer aims to meet residents’ preference for local care options.
Pleasant View offers skilled nursing, rehab, and memory support 10 miles away.
Messiah Lifeways announced plans to transfer ownership of Mount Joy Country Homes to Pleasant View Communities, a like-minded, mission-driven organization based in Manheim.
The final transfer of ownership and timing is subject to regulatory approvals.
According to a release, residents of Mount Joy Country Homes have increasingly chosen to access healthcare and supportive services closer to home rather than relocate to the Messiah Village campus in Mechanicsburg. The Messiah Lifeways Executive Team and Board of Directors have explored long-term solutions to better meet the needs of this community.
“After a period of research and thoughtful discernment, we identified Pleasant View Communities as an ideal partner to continue supporting and serving the residents of Mount Joy Country Homes,” Karl Brummer, president & CEO of Messiah Lifeways, said in a statement.
Located 10 miles from the Mount Joy Country Homes campus, Pleasant View Communities provides personal care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory support, in addition to an array of amenities.
“At Pleasant View, we are excited about the opportunity to expand our mission and welcome the Mount Joy community into our family,” said Jonathan Hollinger, president & CEO of Pleasant View Communities. “Many Mount Joy Country Homes residents have already engaged with our services, and we look forward to deepening those relationships and offering even more resources close to home.”
Brummer said the partnership strengthens both missions.
“We believe Pleasant View will be a trusted steward of the Mount Joy community, helping the community thrive long into the future,” said Brummer.
Messiah Lifeways was founded in 1896 and is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving older adults throughout South Central Pennsylvania.
