Health care providers associated with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Accountable Care Organization will receive incentives for meeting health care quality and cost-reduction targets through a new partnership with AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania.
AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania, a Medicaid managed care plan based in Harrisburg, announced on Tuesday that it entered a value-based agreement with Lancaster General Health Community Care Collaborative. The collaborative, which consists of 300 area primary-care and specialty physicians as well as Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s three hospitals, coordinates care for local Medicare patients throughout its network of providers.
The group’s partnership with AmeriHealth will allow the organizations to share accountability for the cost of providing health care services to Medicaid members and award positive outcomes with higher revenue, according to press release.
Providers that fail to hit the requirements will see a loss in revenue.
“This agreement with Lancaster General Health Community Care Collaborative exemplifies our commitment to providing access to health care for our members,” said Marge Angello, president of AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania. “It also represents an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with a health care provider in our community as our organizations continue the work to help members address the social, economic and environmental barriers to obtaining and maintaining good health.”
