Lancaster County construction company breaks ground on hospital
East Petersburg-based Warfel Construction Company has broken ground on a behavioral health hospital in Danville.
According to a release, the Lancaster County company teamed with Acadia Healthcare and Geisinger to start building the Acadia Gesinger Behavioral Health Hospital. Acadia is a Tennessee-based behavioral health company; Geisinger a Danville-based health system.
The project is scheduled to be finished in Spring 2025.
The hospital will host 96 patient beds and serve over 1.2 million people in 45 counties across Pennsylvania. The 72,578-square foot facility will focus on care for adult, adolescent, and pediatric patients with behavioral health disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
“We are deeply honored to contribute to this initiative and recognize the paramount importance of accessible behavioral health services within our communities,” President of Warfel Construction Conlan Swope said in a statement.
In addition, Acadia Geisinger Behavioral Health Hospital will be a teaching hospital training students and residents from Geisinger’s College of Health Sciences.
“More than just a new building, this behavioral health hospital is a testament to our dedication to nurturing a better, healthier community,” said Project Executive Rusty Hoffman.
This partnership marks the second collaboration between Warfel Construction, Acadia Healthcare, and Geisinger. Warfel previously partnered with Acadia and Geisinger in opening a similar hospital in Moosic in August 2023.
Founded in 1911, Warfel Construction Company provides general construction and construction management services to clients throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
