Grant program opens for York County women-owned businesses
Women-owned small businesses in York County can now benefit from the 2023 BLOOM Grant Program.
Announced Thursday by the BLOOM Business Empowerment Center, through the York County Economic Alliance, the program will remain open through 8 p.m. (EST), Friday, Dec. 1.
Grants of up to $1,500 will be awarded to small businesses in York County that are owned and operated by women for projects that help them improve productivity, expand services, or grow to the next level. Grant amounts will be considered based on need and potential impact.
Projects funded through BLOOM grant funds include improving signage, physical improvements to a business location, marketing, training and certification for new services, or purchase of new equipment.
Priority consideration will be given to the following businesses:
- Businesses that have not received funding from previous BLOOM grant programs.
- Businesses owned by Women, or Black, Indigenous, or people of color.
- Businesses owned by military veterans.
Created in 2018, the BLOOM Grant Program has awarded 207 grants totaling nearly $445,000 to small businesses/organizations. Grants have been awarded to businesses in York County, City of York, York County Trail Towns communities, and to women-owned businesses, start-up entrepreneurs, and graduates of the BLOOM classes.

Applicant finalists will be required to participate in an in-person pitch competition at the Women Business Center Organization (WBCO) luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at noon.
