HDC MidAtlantic, local partners, and residents celebrated the grand opening of their newest affordable housing community, Beach Run Apartments, in Fredericksburg on Oct.7.
This development represents a $14.68 million investment in affordable housing in Lebanon County, adding 51 affordable, energy-efficient apartments to help fill the workforce housing need for major employers in the Fredericksburg area, according to a HDC press release. Six apartments were designed to meet American with Disabilities Act standards, and five are designated with a preference for military veterans All apartments were leased prior to the event.
“This housing community has been a long time coming and it has taken a lot of hard work, dedication, and collaboration between partners to get to this point,” said HDC MidAtlantic President & CEO Dana Hanchin. “We are grateful to all of the residents who have chosen Beach Run, and we are committed to supporting you in whatever ways you need as you are at the heart of our mission.”
Financial support for Beach Run was provided from The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), CREA, Fulton Bank, the Lebanon County Housing Trust, First Citizens Community Bank, M&T Bank, and Truist Bank.
“I am happy for Fredericksburg that you have a community that was not built overnight, but it was built all together,” said PHFA Executive Director Robin Wiessmann. “We know that affordable housing is a crisis across America. There aren’t enough places for people to live, and housing is so critical. The pandemic underscored that for us all.”
Construction on Beach Run began in early 2020 and was completed in September 2021. Local development partners included Arthur Funk & Sons, Inc., Steckbeck Engineering & Surveying, Inc., and Architectural Concepts.
