Tucker Arensberg proudly welcomes Heidi R. Freese. With a distinguished background in criminal defense, Heidi served as Federal Public Defender for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, first appointed in 2017. This role included managing caseloads, overseeing the Criminal Justice Act panel, and supervising multiple offices. Her tenure saw the litigation of two cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to this, Heidi spent a decade as Assistant Federal Public Defender, handling complex cases and leading grand jury investigations. She also served as Juvenile Delinquency Master at York County Court of Common Pleas. In addition to her criminal defense work, Heidi teaches at Penn State Dickinson Law and is active in the Name, Image, and Likeness space. Her advocacy extends to Diversity & Inclusion, and she is active in professional associations, frequently speaking at legal conferences.
If you had not chosen your current profession, what profession would you choose and why?
Musician. I’ve played piano since I was a young child, and music has always been an important part of my life.
What was a recent (or favorite) vacation you took?
Family trip to Europe.
What do you do when you want to relax?
Go to the beach and spend time outdoors with family.
