Ducklings Early Learning Center announced on June 15 the opening of its newest location in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. This is the third location for owner Jackie Hicks and the 21st location for the overall brand. The Lime Spring center in East Hempfield Township joins Hicks’ existing Ducklings facilities in Lititz and Longwood (Kennett Square).
The early childhood education provider offers care for children ages six weeks to six years, emphasizing play-based learning and exploration. The new Lancaster-area center features a curated library, indoor gym and outdoor playgrounds designed to foster creativity and confidence.
Hicks began as a teaching assistant at Ducklings in 1995. After earning her degree in early childhood education, she became center director and eventually joined the franchise support team as director of site development. Hicks opened her first location in 2023.
“Not only is my dedication to Ducklings professional, it’s also personal, as my two sons spent their early years, from six weeks through private kindergarten, learning, growing and playing at Ducklings,” Hicks said in a statement. “Just as my locations in Lititz and Longwood have evolved to be neighborhood hubs in each of their communities by supporting families seeking quality, reliable childcare, I look forward to serving as a valued resource to Lancaster families.”
Kierstin Mareno will serve as director for the new Lime Spring location. Hicks said the expansion reflects the region’s strong commitment to community and quality education, adding that the Lime Spring site will serve families from Millersville, Rohrerstown and surrounding neighborhoods. The Lime Spring facility is located at 2160 Ambassador Circle in Lancaster.
