Supply chain management and logistics solutions firm DB Schenker will no longer lay off 206 employees at a Shippensburg warehouse.
Earlier this year, the Essen, Germany-based company announced that it would be permanently laying off employees contracted at a Procter & Gamble Distributing warehouse at 9300 Olde Scotland Road after rescoping a service agreement with Procter & Gamble.
DB Schenker said in a follow-up announcement this week that it will no longer be laying off the employees as planned in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry last month.
Instead, the company is set to hire a significant number of additional forklift drivers along with retaining the current employees at the facility, who include training coordinators, general warehouse workers, warehouse production coordinators and more.
“DB Schenker is not only retaining these roles permanently but also looking to hire a significant number of roles due to the continued strong partnership and business needs at the site,” the company wrote in the release. “DB Schenker and the customer remain in a strong partnership aimed at driving the long-term success of the facility.”
