Ryan Nelson, a listing broker for Penn State Management, part of York County-based Penn State Investment Group, said a deal is pending with a new operator for the restaurant.

Gullifty’s current owners were not immediately available for comment on the timing of the decision to close.

The unnamed group buying the restaurant, which Nelson said is “someone with local ties,” is planning a complete renovation of the restaurant and hopes to be up and running again in four or five months.

“I think this is going to be a very good addition,” Nelson said. “From our end, we’re excited about the prospect of the new operators and their vision.”

It’s unclear if the name of the restaurant will change. Gullifty’s started as Dante’s Pizza Pub and Zee’s Down Under back in the early 1970s, according to the restaurant’s website. In 1983, it became Gullifty’s Restaurant & The Underground.

The Shoppes at Cedar Cliff has been undergoing a makeover for much of the last year, while welcoming new tenants. The Cru Pizza & Deli and Joey’s Chicken Shack are new additions to the center off Interstate 83 near Cedar Cliff High School.
