Celebrating Pennsylvania’s Best Places to Work

Central Penn Business Journal in partnership with Best Companies Group and Lehigh Valley Business, once again hosted its annual Best Places to Work in PA event.

Best Places to Work in PA 2024 was held at the Lancaster Mariott at Penn Square Hotel on Thursday, Dec. 12.

The event honored the state’s 134 best places to work, separated across three categories: small employers (15-99 U.S. employees; medium employers (100-249 U.S. employees); and large employers (250 or more U.S. employees).

“This year’s Best Places to Work in PA have established a positive environment for innovative teams to thrive. These organizations put their employees first by innovating new benefits and programs,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media/Central Penn Business Journal and Lehigh Valley Business. “We are pleased to join with the Best Companies Group to recognize this year’s winners.”

CPBJ announced a list of the winners in September and the official ranking of the winners during the event.

Rankings were determined in two parts. The first consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices and demographics, worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which consisted of 75% of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.

A full list of the winners, along with photos of the event, is available at the event’s landing page at https://www.cpbj.com/event/best-places-work-pa/

The event was emcee’d by Jaime Zepeda, executive vice president of Best Companies Group and Joel D. Smith, PM news anchor at CBS21 News in Harrisburg.

New to this year at Best Places to Work in PA was the Best Places Mastermind Seminar. The seminar was opened by Zepeda, who delved into the latest research by Best Companies Group on the state of employee engagement nationwide.

A panel of local experts then discussed their strategies for maintaining a thriving workforce and organization. The panelists included Meredith McCann, director of human resources and talent experience at JPL; Fran Vaughn, chief human resources officer at Mutual Benefit Group; and Susan Torchia Yohn, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, human resources director at Brown Plus.
