
York-based CPA Cynthia A. Dotzel was named York Water Company’s first female board chair.
The 205-year-old public utility company announced on Monday that Dotzel, a chair on York Water Company’s board for over eight years, succeeds former board chair George Hodges.
Dotzel is a shareholder and co-founder of York-based Dotzel & Company, Inc. Certified Public Accountants in York. She has more than 40 years of experience in the accounting, tax and business advisory sectors and previously worked for Bakery Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP and SF & Company, CPA’s and Business Advisors, both in York.
“I am confident Cindy has the vision and passion to lead our company well into our third century of service and to add value to the customers, communities and stakeholders we serve,” said JT Hand, the company’s president and CEO, “She brings a wealth of experience from the private sector and a tremendous foundation in corporate governance. Her leadership will guide our company through the complexities of our industry and secure our reputation for prudent and sustainable investment.”
York Water Company’s new chair also sits on the board of directors of Codorus Valley Bancorp, Inc. and PeoplesBank, where she chairs the audit committee.
Hodges, who will stay on the board as a member, said that Dotzel was a ‘tremendous’ director and financial expert in her time at York Water.
