York College announces major expansion
York College of Pennsylvania announced a major expansion of one of the campus’s most sought-after residence halls, Northside Commons.
A groundbreaking ceremony is being held today to officially mark the beginning of this transformative project. Construction is expected to be completed by June 2026.
“At York College, we are committed to providing our students with the best possible living and learning environments,” Dr. Thomas Burns, president of York College of Pennsylvania, said in a statement. “We are especially excited to expand Northside Commons during a time when many institutions are not building new residence halls. This expansion underscores our dedication to meeting the needs of our growing student population and continuing to offer modern, high-quality facilities.”
At a time when many colleges and universities are scaling back, York College’s project will add a new wing featuring 204 beds for expanded on-campus living. The project also includes modern amenities such as secure Wi-Fi, air conditioning, upgraded furniture based on student feedback, and enhanced multipurpose meeting areas designed for comfort and functionality.
Outdoor recreational furniture will also be added to create inviting spaces for students to study and socialize.
