Volvo Construction hosts event at Shippensburg headquarters

Volvo Days, a special event held in Shippensburg every few years, is showing how the company is expanding and updating its range of offerings in conventional and electric machines. 

Nearly 1,000 people are expected to be welcomed to Shippensburg this week by Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE). The company’s North American headquarters will showcase new and existing products and offer networking, a machine show, factory tours and hands-on experience with machines and services.  

According to a release, the event shows how Volvo is growing its range of offerings in both conventional and electric power across the company’s extensive lineup. 

“Providing an exceptional customer experience is something we’re focused on every day of the year, but Volvo Days gives us a special opportunity to celebrate our customers, strengthen relationships and allow people to talk with our experts and test-drive machines,” Scott Young, head of Region North America, Volvo CE said in a statement. 

Two of the products in the spotlight are new mid-size electric machines. The new L120 Electric wheel loader and the new-generation EC230 Electric excavator demonstrate Volvo’s continued progress with zero-emission solutions that feature reduced noise and lower maintenance costs. In addition, several new products were introduced to the North American market this week, including the SD125 soil compactor, and the R60 and R70 rigid haul trucks. 

The event marks the first opportunity to have firsthand experience with the Volvo excavators. The series includes several mid-size and large models, with more to be introduced, and represents the biggest update to the Volvo CE excavator lineup in two decades. 

More than 65 machines from across the Volvo CE product lineup are on display. There are also demonstrations of technology such as machine control systems, advanced telematics, productivity services and site solutions. 

“It’s critical that we give customers comprehensive solutions for their projects,” said Young, “And that means pairing the right machines with the right services to help them optimize their safety, productivity, and uptime.”
